Nettleham Scouts Scarecrow Festival 2018 | Gallery

Following a very successful launch in 2017, Nettleham Scout Group held its second annual Scarecrow Festival during the Bank Holiday weekend of 6th and 7th May 2018, raising funds for Scouting activities in the village.
In glorious sunshine and with very high temperatures throughout the event, residents and visitors alike were treated to an amazing spectacle of nearly eighty scarecrows of all shapes and sizes placed around a route that included not only the centre of the village but also many of the surrounding areas too [even walking at a moderate pace, it took a good two hours to get round them all!].
The scarecrows were designed and constructed by local businesses, groups and individuals, who all put so much effort into their creations, and they are to be commended for really getting into the spirit of the event and making Nettleham the place to visit during the Bank Holiday weekend.
Large-scale events like the Scarecrow Festival take a lot of organisation, both in advance and ‘on the day’, and the Nettleham Scouts team [led by leader Nichola Lord] did a fantastic job, ensuring that everything ran smoothly and the many hundreds of visitors were provided with a mouth-watering array of cakes and gallons of tea and squash at The Scout Hut.
Nettleham really was buzzing with activity during both days of the Scarecrow Festival, with many visitors coming to the village from around the county [and some from further afield too] to take part in the fun.   Early indications are that attendance was up on last year’s launch event, and we’ll bring you details of the fundraising total shortly.
We’ll also publish details of the winning scarecrow [as voted by visitors to the event] as soon as this is announced.
In the meantime, we hope you enjoy this gallery of images – which includes all entries except for two [apologies to numbers 24 and 74 – we somehow missed you!]…
