Nettleham News Magazine
Archive issues of Nettleham News’ print magazine are available via this page.
The print magazine was published quarterly from Spring 1983 until Winter 2016 – some 136 issues – therefore getting them all into PDF format and ready for upload [particularly the first nineteen years, during which time they were produced using traditional ‘paste-up’ methods rather than software] will be a lengthy task.
The plan is to work ‘from both ends’ simultaneously – i.e. backwards from the more recent issues, which were produced digitally and therefore take less time to prepare for upload, and forwards from the early editions, which take much more time to make ready [each magazine needs to be disassembled and pages individually scanned].
At the present rate of progress, we anticipate that all 136 issues will be available here by mid-2018.
Please click on each cover image to go to the Issuu website, where the magazine files are stored. The Issuu website allows you to read the magazine from cover to cover, exactly as you would do with a printed copy.
Useful tips on getting the most out of your Issuu viewing experience [please read before you start]:
- To increase the size of the Issuu viewing window, please click on the ‘fullscreen’ icon to open to maximum screen size. This icon resembles four photo corners and is located at the bottom right hand side of the viewing window.
- The pages can then be ‘turned’ by clicking the on-screen arrows to the left and right of the screen, or by using the left/right arrows on your computer keyboard. If you wish to make individual pages larger [or smaller], please use the +/- slider.
- When you’ve finished reading, full screen mode can be exited by either clicking on the ‘photo corners’ icon at the bottom right of the viewing box, or pressing ‘Esc’ on your computer keyboard.
- Alternatively, if you’d prefer to read the magazine offline and keep a local copy for reference, it can be downloaded as a PDF file by clicking the ‘download’ button [please note that the ‘download’ button is only visible when the viewing window is not in full screen mode].
Viewing PDF files requires the Adobe Reader application. Most computers and smart devices already have this installed by default, but – if you need the PC version – it can be downloaded from here. The PDF copies of Nettleham News are fully keyword searchable using the search facility built-in to Adobe Reader.
As a longer-term project, we have it in mind to look at producing a comprehensive index of the contents of each issue, which would certainly be a great archival resource. If you may be interested in assisting with this, please contact us.
