In April 2017 we celebrated our 39th Twinning Exchange

Our French guests arrived at 7.30 pm, we were surprised to see that their coach was decorated with bunting celebrating our Chairman’s special birthday. Our thoughtful guests came complete with balloons and bottles of special Mulsanne bubbly. The bubbly was indeed special and contained an age reduction ingredient. A couple of glasses had the desired effect and in an instant 72 years was deducted.

Monday was the day of the special visit to Tutbury Castle

On arrival we enjoyed morning coffee in the Reception Area, a full run-down on the history of the castle, and then a performance in the Great Hall by The Castle Curator Lesley Smith on Mary Queen of Scots . Lesley’s Mary in full period costume was most informative and interesting. Her final act was to create Monsieur Le Maire of Mulsanne a Knight of the Realm. After these activities all returned to the Reception Area for an excellent three course lunch.

Wednesday Evening Dinner at the Assembly Rooms

Twinners and guests assembled for the group dinner, speeches, presentations and entertainment by a three piece jazz band and singer.
