Ray Sellars Award 2017 | Joyce & Colin Lewis
AWARD FOR SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY
Many of you will remember Ray Sellars, who was a member of the Parish Council for many years. After his days, his family decided a fitting memorial to him would be to donate a shield to the Parish Council in his memory and a smaller version of this would be awarded every year to someone who it was considered had served the community in the same way as Ray had done.
It was quite a surprise for Colin and I to receive an invitation to attend the Parish Council Meeting on 25th April and this we did. We were delighted and thrilled to find that we had been nominated for this year’s award, which was duly presented to us by Ray’s son after many kind words from the Chairman of the Parish Council.
Now, of course, we realise that there would not have been an award to us unless we had been supported by so many of you good folk. As you read this, please stop for a moment and remember how you attended Nettleham Cares, had fun at the Coffee Mornings for Sightsavers and Link to Hope and/or knitted gifts for shoeboxes, gave a shoebox, sent donations – the list of so many kindnesses goes on and on.
So, you see, we are a TEAM and this award is for YOU – yes, we hold it on your behalf and will bring it for you to see at future events.
A very big THANK YOU to you all, and may we continue to help each other for a long time to come.
