With much enthusiasm, members of Nettleham Bowls Club commenced a new season in April.

It almost felt like we had come out of hibernation! During the winter members kept in touch through monthly social evenings.  However, with the opening of the green, league games and roll-ups have been taking place with mixed fortunes for the various teams.

If you would like to watch any of these games, a monthly list is displayed on the notice board outside the Co-op store in Nettleham.

The season’s friendly games began with a match against Wragby on April 29th.  On Sunday May 7th we held a very successful open afternoon with 8 new members joining. Our first club competition of the season, held on Saturday May 13th, was the Stephen Rowe Cup. The winners were Ralph Sherwin and Christine Wiltshire who defeated Monica Rennison and Eddie Fairs on the very last end after a very closely fought game.

On Tuesday May 16th we were delighted to again begin our after school bowls club involving children from Nettleham Junior school.  This link has been on-going for many years and we never cease to be impressed with the commitment and enjoyment shown by the children.

Events coming up include:

  • A knock out competition against St Giles on Sunday June 4th at 7pm;
  • Club competitions on June 10th, 17th; July 15th, 29th; August 5th – all commencing at 1.00 pm.

On August Bank holiday Monday we will have the privilege of hosting the City League Finals from 9am until 5pm. Please do feel free to come along to any of these events or any home league games [displayed on Co-op notice board].
