Match Report U10 Arrows

Nettleham lost the toss and we were put into bat first. Having scored minus runs against Lindum last week it was quite daunting but with bat in hand we were a solid side scoring 256 runs in total with only 4 wickets against us (which is a massive improvement from last weeks 8 wickets)! Harish and Isabella Jubbs were the top scoring pair wit 34 runs between them.
We then had to defend the 256 and managed a wicket in the very first over with an accurate fielding throw from George Smith for a run out! George Plummer got a wicket whilst bowling and so did Harish and George Smith (Bowl and Catch). Benji Ellis was top bowler with two wickets (one straight after being hit for a 4!) in the last over.
A really good game of cricket with some all round excellent skills being demonstrated by the players.
We ended up keeping them to just 10 runs so 256 against 210 and winning by 46 Runs in the end. The Arrows march on. Well played all of the children.

Nettleham News

Just popped on to the site to let any friends remaining know of the passing of a former resident, my father, John William Hardy.

Born at home in Greetwell and former pupil of Nettleham school, choir boy and long time supporter of the village.

He died peacefully in his sleep at the grand old age of 92 with his family in Cumbria where he has lived for the last 15 years.

He never forgot the village and regaled us with tales of village life. His tales of Apple scrumping, run ins with the village bobby, the harvest home with cart horses and waking up one morning to find a whole gun battery ensconced in their field to protect the cathedral ( and hiding as they initially thought they were German!) have entertained his grandchildren for years.

RIP

Election To Nettleham Parish Council

The notice below shows the names of the candidate elected to the Parish Council in the Uncontested Election. An Uncontested Election is one where the number of Candidates either precisely matches the number of Councillor seats, (in the case of Nettleham Parish Council this is 12), or fewer than that number stand for election. As you will see, there were 10 candidates and all are considered to be duly elected to the new Parish Council.

There are two further seats as yet unallocated and these may be filled by Co-option. The Co-option process will be the responsibility of the new Parish Council. Should you wish to be considered for one of these seats, please contact the Parish Clerk, Debbie Locker, on 01522 750011 or email parishcouncil@nettleham-pc.gov.uk not later than Noon on Friday 31st May 2019.

Of course, should there be more candidates than seats then a Poll is held and it is then known as a Contested Election. For the reason stated above, there will be no Poll this time around.

Please note that to comply with Data Protection legislation, a candidate may choose to withhold their private address at this stage. There is nothing untoward in a candidate taking this approach; they are merely exercising their right to do so. Once a Councillor takes their seat, such details become a matter of public record.

Ray Sellars Community Award

The Ray Sellars Community Award is awarded annually and acknowledges outstanding contributions made by residents to our community life. At the Annual Parish Meeting held on 17th April, the Parish Council were delighted to announce this yearโ€™s recipient was Mrs. Marianne Dingley for her work in distributing knitted angels around the village at Christmas time. Ray Sellarsโ€™ daughter Anita made the presentation. Mrs. Dingley said the idea had originated in the northeast and is now copied all over the country. Her group has grown to nearly 30 members knitting the angels which are hung on trees all around the village to spread a bit of happiness in the festive season.

Goodbye โ€ฆ.

After a long period of continuity, six Parish Councillors stood down after the last four- year term ended. We are very sorry to say goodbye to Malcolm Leaning (55 years), John Hill (45 years), Mike Spencer (35 years), Terry Williams (22 years), Joe Siddall (8 years) and Richard Porter (4 years). Each in their own way has contributed so much to the work of the Parish Council and we will miss their experience and expertise in various areas. We really appreciate the time and effort they voluntarily gave to our community and thank them most sincerely and offer our best wishes to them all for the future.

Terry Williams has agreed to continue acting as our Honorary Legal Advisor and John Hill as Honorary Tree Advisor for the time being. We are very grateful not to lose their invaluable knowledge in their respective fields.

At the Annual Parish Meeting, Cllr. John Evans presented engraved commemorative plaques to Malcolm Leaning, John Hill, Mike Spencer and Terry Williams to mark their long service to the Council. He also presented a personal gift to Joe Siddall in recognition of his help and support as Vice Chairman.

And Hello โ€ฆ.

Following the closing date for nominations, we are very pleased to advise that a new Council has been formed following an uncontested election. We welcome Alan Henderson, Christopher Higham, Philip Jenkinson and Peter McNeill and look forward to developing a successful working relationship with them all.

However, there are still two vacancies to fill to bring our number up to full strength. If you are interested in being co-opted on to the Parish Council, please contact the Clerk at the Parish Office for details.

Tonight I wanna say thank you to all the new volunteers and of course especially those who show up every week and put their all in. I want to also say thank you to Nettleham village who donated enough items to keep us going for a long time.
Although itโ€™s not as cold this week after walking around after awhile it was still cold which is where a hot drink and some food can make all the difference for someone on the street.
I canโ€™t thank you all enough for the donations that have been flooding in over the past few weeks, they really do make all the difference in helping. With these provisions we are able to supply our friends with kit to help keep them warmer.

Proposals for Bill Bailey's -
The Parish Council are considering extending the Children's Play Area at Bill Bailey's onto the upper tier in the park's far corner.

We surveyed village residents about play equipment in 2016 and the main requests were to:
1 - have more play equipment for older children
2 - have more modern/natural play equipment
3 - expand existing play sites in the village rather than developing new ones.

Following the survey the Parish Council have worked with numerous play equipment companies to look at various designs. Our preferred layout is this design from Wicksteed (see attached images).

The cost of this scheme would be around ยฃ73,000. The Parish Council have been saving for this project for several years and are considering putting ยฃ15,000 towards the cost. West Lindsey District Council have agreed to contribute ยฃ8000. The remaining ยฃ50,000 needs to be raised from grant schemes.

At this stage we are interested in feedback from villagers on this scheme. We can't meet everyone's exact requests but we feel we have responded to the broad themes from the survey. Please let us know what you think by adding your comments on the Parish Council Facebook page.

We are particularly interested in feedback from 7-15 year olds, who are the target audience for this new area. If you can provide us any direct feedback from children this would be very helpful for us to use in our funding bids. We don't want children's names but if you could give us
their age and any quotes they have about the design that would be really helpful.

The Parish Council will be making a formal decision about pursuing this scheme at our next meeting on 19th November - all members of the public are welcome to attend and contribute to the discussion.
